Dragon Fold Origami Books with the MFA – Join us for a fun and creative bookmaking workshop inspired by Asian artwork at the Museum of Fine Arts. This workshop features a style of bookmaking that uses simple folded paper techniques for binding rather than sewing techniques. Create one-of-a-kind books that unfold in elegant shapes and colors, and fill them with your own ideas and inspiration using drawing and collage materials. Whether you’re new to bookmaking or an experienced bookmaker, these books will absolutely delight you!
*Please let us know if you need us to send you scissors.

Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET

Contour Drawing – In this contour drawing workshop, we will throw perfection to the wind as we put our pens to paper and follow the outline of our subjects to explore line, shape, and form. The definition of the word contour is “an outline, especially one representing the shape or form of something” and we will use one continuous line to embrace simplicity while drawing exactly what we see. This technique is used by masters and beginners alike to experience the present moment, resulting in wonderfully quirky finished pieces that reflect the essence of life drawing, spontaneity, surprise, and delight. We will experience three contour drawing exercises and explore ways this unique artistic technique can be used for moments of mindful observation, whimsy, and even as an outlet while waiting in line or during Zoom meetings!

Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET
