  • Description: With unexpected changes in our day to day lives, our usual self-care habits may be interrupted. Journaling is a simple and quick way to help cultivate awareness, express feelings, and reduce stress. This six-week group will teach you evidence-based strategies for coping with stress and improving quality of life through journaling. All sessions meet via Zoom. No prior experience is required, but space is limited.

    Led by Heather Woods, MA, MT-BC, the group will meet on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. beginning November 2nd, skipping Thanksgiving week and ending December 14th. To register, please email Zakim_Center@dfci.harvard.edu.

    Meditation is a mind body practice that has long been used to help produce a sense of calm and relaxation. Meditation may help patients cope with illness and enhance overall health and well-being. The practice of meditation involves finding quiet time and place free from distraction. You will need to sit comfortably. In the beginning of your practice, you learn to relax your body, concentrate on your breath and quiet your mind. Quieting your mind is the challenge. The challenge during meditation is not to be caught in the mind's wandering, and not to judge your thoughts.


    Mindfulness is the ability to bring present moment awareness into all the activities of daily living, while experiencing these same benefits. Cultivating a regular practice of meditation may bring you to a new level of mindfulness in everyday life.   • Description: This 45-minute joyful flow (vinyasa) is a practice that connects movement to breath in a sequence of yoga poses. The class is designed to promote a mind-body connection as it develops strength, stamina, flexibility, balance, relaxation and focus. All levels welcome. Focus: hips opening/ grounding.

  • Description: This 45-minute chair yoga invites you to find movement in a way that is gentle and supportive. The practice invites awareness into the body and activates muscles in the spine that help you find length up through the spine for better posture and energy flow. If you are new to yoga, have difficulty getting down to the floor, experience pain in your muscles or joints, loss of energy, or balance issues due to peripheral neuropathy, this class is for you. All levels welcome. Focus: hips opening/ grounding.
